Lawrence O’Donnell

Councillor

Why did you become a Councillor?

I became a Councillor because I want Wylam to continue being a wonderful place to live and I wanted to play my part in that.  Since we have settled and started a family I have found myself more involved in village life and I wanted to give something back to our supportive community.

What do you like most about Wylam?

The friendly people, the green spaces, the fresh air, the Waggonway and Keelman’s, the Jubilee Fields, the river running through the village and the thriving pubs, cafes and businesses.

What do you want to achieve as a Councillor in Wylam?

I hope to make people proud of their Parish Council, to make decisions and take action to keep it as one of the best places to live, bring up a family and retire.  The Neighbourhood Plan offers us real opportunity to decide what we want the future of Wylam to look like and I’m excited to be involved in that.

Tell us about yourself…..

I am a member of the Royal Northern Sinfonia based at the Glasshouse in Gateshead.  I enjoy taking part in outreach projects across the Northeast and bringing music to those, old and young, who would not normally have access to it.
